Named After Campbell’s Orchards’ Co-Founder Murray

Murray Campbell and his wife June, purchased the orchard in 1967. During their first ten years, Murray and his friend Al Mcpherson began cleaning up the forest to make space for a sugarbush. Much of their time was spent clearing out brush and cedar trees that interfered with the maple trees. Tragically, Murray passed away in 1979 due to a small plane crash near Port Hope. Murray’s son Colin and grandson John, along with the help of the orchard team and their friends Lynn and Jim, have revived Murray’s plans and decided to name the sugarbush in his memory.

Archeological evidence illustrates a colourful past on our hillside, demonstrating that our sugarbush area has potentially been used to make maple syrup for hundreds of years. We look forward to showing you around!

began as a hobby

Colin and John Campbell garnered an interest in producing maple syrup in 2017 after assisting their friends Lynn and Jim at their sugarshack. It was the therapeutic process of tending a fire and its close ties to nature that drew them back every year.

Tours and Tastings

Every early spring between late February and April, we host weekend tours of the sugarbush. Check our socials and webpage for details when the time comes.
